Bring It!

So with my new goals changing from back/hip strengthening to reducing my risk of diabetes, i have a new list.
1). Waist size under 35 and continue to get smaller
2). Reduce fasting glucose from 95 to below 85
3). Reduce belly fat
4). Increase my BMR & RMR
( basic and restong metabolic rate)
5). Get my BMI out of the obese down past the overweight range

This week started as an increase to going back to see Timothy Parravano once a week.
His promise to me is that if I come to training and leave everything on the floor, that those goals are doable, promise.
So, today, I blew wvrything out of the water. I went one or two more than he asked and sometimes more. I screamed baked goods by the time I got to the legs ag 734#s. He wanted 6 on each side for the waist twist, I did seven. Last rep on biceps, i growled and did two more. Tbat is how my whole work out went.
I so brought my game! I was shakey for 3 hrs afterwards. The next two days will be painful but it will be worth it.
Brian will hold me accountable to do a 2 min. horse stance, a 2 min. Traditional plank, a 1 min. horse stance, and finally a 1 min straight arm plank, three times a week.

First week I started with Timothy followed by me today.

Weight vs Inches

So weighing between 164-170 at any given time and never seeing mich of a change can be depressing. That is why I use clothes, body measurements, and what my husband notices. I have avoided measuring myself since last July 2014. Partly out of paying attention to the scale and not to my clothes.
Recently, I gave away at least 15 pairs of pants that either are too big or now that they fit, did not look good on me. Only 2 pairs didn't fit but were not my style. Another item is my undies of which i have gone from large down to a med.
I did go ahead and purchase two new bras which were not as easy to find as I have a large cup size but my ribcage is now 34". Having the right size bras helps my tops fit correctly, the material lays how it was designed without embarrassing gaps.
Well, Jan 30, 2015, at almost midnight, I finally did my measurements. Wow! I have lost a total of 5"! So, though there has been no weight change, my body is changing. So remember to not get stuck on the scale nber eapecially when you are performing weight bearing exercises.

Dieting vs healthy eating

So in the discussion of dieting, i don't diet. I have plenty of books regarding weight loss and cooking.

My former endocrinologist gave me a choice of the Zone or South Beach.

Well, i am not much for prepackaged food as i am for cooking from scratch so I of course chose the Zone.

The reason I was recommended this is that it is hard for me to get enough caloric intake in a day that is balanced/ healthy.

So yes, if you eat healthy, you can sometimes be looking at the end of the day with only 900 calories on the balance sheet and thinking can I eat 2 protein bars to reach my 1300 calories and not throw it back up b/c you are already so full.

The result of having a small stomach and not eating enough food is that you can gain weight and not be getting your nutritional needs met.

Don't get me wrong I love and eat unhealthy foods and will cook them willingly or go out and buy them. But instead of eating a 1/2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, i have my free one and then my favorite Iced Cream Filled. Of course, now a days, I get the Cram Filled withou tthe Chocolate Icing as I can't seem to handle that much sweetness. I also limit myself to a 3-6 month range between donuts. That way it is a special treat and not a habit.

I'm all shook up-

What I workout! It's almost like the first time. I got to work. Told Robert I was just going to rest in my car but he insisted on unlocking the shop and then waited for me to get in the building.
I was shaking so bad I thought I was going to drop everything.
A few minutes later, I turned off the lights an layed down on the coach in the customer lounge. I needed that.

Weekend Warrior Princess

Brain Power 5k? Sure, why not!
3.5 weeks later...
I have to say if it were not for the following events, I don't think this accomplishment would have not happened so soon.
1) Resisting the pull of water at the large wave pool at Schlitterbahn so Darlisa & I could experience as many big waves as possible.
2) Workout with Timothy Parravano at Kelly Personal Fitness
3) Interval training with Dawn Davies & Brian Lippincott
4) Rollerskating on quads

Brian coached me through the 5k on Sunday. I didn't learn until later that Dawn was in the stands cheering us on at the start of the race!
We completed the 5k in 40 min.
I did manage to start off with running past the half mile mark so that was good.
My ultimate goal is to finish a 5k in 25 min. I did want a lower time at this event but I only had a flash of disappointment.
Why?
Because, I completed a 5k! I didn't quit! Best of all, I did it with my husband!
I love you, Brian!
