New Goals

Goal A: waist below 35"
Goal B: reduce belly fat
Goal C: get off all High Blood pressure pills
Goal D: go hiking and walking more
Overall Goal: enjoy more life

Simple Goals rules & guidelines

I really don't do a resolution list every year. I tend to define a goal and figure out how to get there. I do have some guidelines & rules.

For example:  a gave up Krispy Kreme donuts, I can have them every 4-6 mo.
Rules:  don't eat donuts just b/c I can.
Think about it, walk away, and think some more.

Guidelines: buy as many as you want, eat your donuts and give the rest away.

Result: Majority of donuts don't really taste that great. Eating a special donut becomes a real treat and a sugar shock.
I don't feel bad. My cholesterol has gone down.

Goal 1A reached

Goal A: Waist below 35"
Reason: According to experts, this is one of the risk reductions of preventing Type 2 Diabetes.

As of today, I now have a 35" waist, therefore I have reached Goal A1.

Conclusion: just a smidge more to go!

Proof in the belt

Well, the neighbor's neice had invited me to her QuinceaƱera. So I had to go cowgirl style and I jave a rhinestone belt I haven't worn in 2 yrs. I was surprised! I had to go 3 more holes over!

There are no more holes left on the belt but there is room to put another hole when needed!
Oh! And where you see my finger is the original hole I have used.

Progress!! So Excited as Goal is getting nearer

So I had another blood test as I thought I had a UTI but all they saw was sugar in my urine. That was due to the fact that I had treated myself to a real Cherry Dr Pepper at Hut's in Austin, TX.
The good news that after eating and drinking that soda. My glucose was 93 and my A1C is 5.5, which the Dr said was actually a better number to go by and she liked the numbers!
Also, I have lost over 11" in 355 days and my weight is below 158!
As it stands, I am seeing results in the way my clothes fit and my glucose is lower and every day, I reduce my risk of necoming pre-diabetic!

So Close....

UMeasurement day!
So since scales are not so reliable, I use the BodyTrackIt app to yrack my changes.
If you remember my goal of being inder a 35" waist? Well, I am at 35" exactly!
1/16" to get below that measurement'

No problem, I will just keep doing what I am doing and it will be gone soon.

Small steps keep me going and so I am using the bathroom scale to keep me himble even though I know it is off but my logic is that is the weight that I show at the Dr.'s office with clothes on.
With that in mind, my mext goal if being under 160 lbs. is 3.9 lbs. which I want to happen. I have a tendancy to self sabotage by stopping what is working for me. Not this time. I am so close that I am not willing to slide down that hill again.

Thanks to Rocco Dispirito and his "Now Eat This Diet" cookbook, i am able to have the food I love without the fat and calories. The first recipe I tried was the Beef with Broccoli. His recipe takes it from 720 calories to around 193 calories.
I ised a fat free gravy mix and so my change equaled 174 calories per serving. It is so good that my broccoli despising husband ate it!
Here is the link for that recipe:

Also, he has several recipes on his own website:

You do not have to sign in to het the recipes.
I bought the majority of his books at the local Half Price Books but his Lose A Pond A Day I purchased on the HPB Marketplace and Amazon

In his recipe he mentions Seal Sama Teriyaki sauce. It is actually not available in the stores listed. I used a low salt variety that only had 3g of sugar. Later, I did find one made with Agave.
But, yesterday, I received an email that it was available at http://www2.netrition.com/cgi/prices.cgi?manu_id=512
WooHoo! Happy Camper!
I was actually getting ready to make it from scratch but I would rather have this as a comparison first.

Happy Trails!

Also the Shiritaki Rice/Miracle Noodle is founf in refrigerated dairy section in Central Market.
